Al Saleh made the statements following the issuance of the 2022 European Union (EU) Human Rights Report, which commended Bahrain’s record and cited its key achievements in the field of human rights.

These achievements, which are the fruitful outcomes of the royal initiatives and strategic plans, have deepened Bahrain’s human rights standing, Al Saleh said.

The Shura head extended his gratitude to HM the King for his support for consolidating the principles of human rights in Bahrain, making the kingdom an example of peaceful coexistence among all religions and cultures.

He indicated that efforts of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to sustain progress and development in the field of human rights confirm the kingdom’s tireless efforts to make respect for human rights the core of every achievement and success.

The chairman praised the continuous support that the human rights file enjoys from HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, citing HRH’s directives to formulate and implement innovative initiatives and programmes to support human rights at all levels.

Steady cooperation

Council of Representatives Speaker Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam highlighted steady cooperation with all parliaments to exchange expertise in the human rights field and shed light on Bahrain’s landmark progress in supporting justice and equity and protecting human rights.

In a statement, Al Musallam affirmed parliamentary support to further developing human rights legislations, based on the National Action Charter and the Constitution, Bahrain’s long-standing values, national fundamentals and international covenants.

He commended the efforts of the National Human Rights Commission, chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani in highlighting Bahrain’s strides and reinforcing cooperation with local and international institutions.

Role model

Speaker of the Arab Parliament (AP) Speaker Adel bin Abdulrahman Al Asoomi praised the 2022 European Union (EU) Human Rights Reports.

Also Board of Trustees Chairman of the Arab Observatory for Human Rights, Al Asoumi expressed his pride in the Kingdom’s experience in various human rights fields and its firm approach spearheaded by HM King Hamad, who has given top priority to the human rights file, which enhanced Bahrain’s record in this field.

He asserted that the kingdom’s numerous human rights achievements, which have been acclaimed by international organisations, prove that Bahrain has established itself as a role model for human rights respect, peaceful coexistence and tolerance among the various groups of society, as well as for preserving the dignity of citizens and consolidating the foundations of the rule of law, thanks to its legislation and laws.
