Positive EU report highlights Bahrain human rights strides

MP Dr. Maryam Al Dhaen has emphasised the key role played by the Council of Representatives through participation in international forums to highlight Bahrain’s efforts in promoting human rights and women issues.

The 2022 report of the European Union on human rights and its commendation of Bahrain’s achievements in this field reflect a real picture, in accordance with the principles and vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and with the directives and support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, she added.

Dr. Al Dhaen said HM the King laid the foundations of democracy and parliamentary action within the framework of the separation of powers and their cooperation in accordance with the Constitution.

Through her official participation in IPU meetings, Dr. Al Dhaen had submitted a number of working papers detailing those files, which were among the most important indicators. The MP noted that the Kingdom had hosted many meetings of the international parliament during the previous legislative session, which had provided an opportunity for representatives of the world parliament to learn about many of the facts that some were trying to mislead.

Dr. Al Dhaen stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation with the European Union in the various fields of rights, politics and development. She said that the members of the House of Representatives represent the entire people, and that parliamentary diplomacy is a key role, given its efforts and role in developing and strengthening foreign parliamentary relations, building friendship and cooperation among the national parliaments of the world to contribute to the international peace and cooperation process, and highlighting the achievements of Bahrain clearly, impartially and transparently.

Dr. Al Dhaen hailed the contributions made by members of the House of Representatives in supporting the diplomatic efforts of the Government to achieve positive results in the various areas of security, political, economic and legal development.
