The Capital Municipality is preparing to install new air-conditioning units and repair old ones at the Manama Central Market.
The project, which includes repairing and installing new AC units, will also involve maintenance and replacement of spare parts for existing ACs.
Traders in the Central Market have been dealing with faulty AC units for a long time, causing spoilage of fresh fruits, vegetables, and meat, resulting in significant financial losses.
Inadequate cooling and ventilation not only made the shopping experience unpleasant for visitors but also caused food spoilage.
Jaffar Abdulnabi Alasfoor, one of the oldest Bahraini traders, has highlighted the challenges faced by traders during the hot season, including the intense heat inside market stalls and the lack of better toilet facilities.
Despite construction work on new toilets, they have not been completed, prolonging the traders' hardship.
The renovation of the AC systems in the Central Market, Manama, signals a positive development for traders and visitors, as it will reduce spoilage of perishable goods and improve business prospects.
