Bahrain youth priority in all national projects: Minister

The Bahrain government considers youth as a priority in all national projects, according to Youth Affairs Minister Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi. The minister was speaking while visiting the Youth City 2030, which is organised by the Youth Affairs Ministry in collaboration with the Labour Fund (Tamkeen).
This year’s edition of the Youth City 2030 is the biggest since its launch 12 years ago, with 130 programmes on offer this summer. Tawfiqi said the number of youth participating in the programmes has continued to rise over the years.
She accompanied ministers and ambassadors on a tour of Youth City, which caters to youth of different age categories. The tour was attended by Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al Asfoor, Social Development Minister; Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan, Electricity and Water Affairs Minister; Noor bint Ali Al Khulaif, Minister of Sustainable Development; Dr. Ramzan bin Abdullah Al Noaimi, Minister of Information; Abdullah bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce; Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) and Maha Abdulhameed Mufeez, Chief Executive Officer of the Labour Fund.
They were briefed on the activities of the city and learnt about the efforts of the volunteers involved. Tawfiqi expressed appreciation to the officials for their visit to Youth City 2030 and for learning about the programmes and events it offers that contribute to equipping Bahraini youth with skills to enter the labour market.
She affirmed that the presence of ministers and officials in the Youth City demonstrated official support for Bahraini youth, and investing in their creativity, which motivates the youth to engage in the development process and building the future of Bahrain.
New ideas
Tawfeeqi said the ministry worked on continuously bringing new ideas to Youth City every year, in implementation of the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to support Bahraini youth as they are the wealth of the country.
The minister added that the success of Youth City was also supported by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, who is keen to empower Bahraini youth.
Variety of programmes
The minister explained that the city offers a variety of programmes that provide the opportunity for youth to learn and discover different fields, in addition to participating in various events, meeting new people and acquiring knowledge and networking. She noted that the officials participating in the tour witnessed the enthusiasm of the youth and their active role in the city.
