The Ministry of Works has unveiled plans for enhancing a key stretch along the 16th December Highway to further ease traffic flow.

The upgrade will primarily target the segment spanning from Shaikh Salman Highway to the R3409 eastbound and westbound sections.

Having successfully concluded the planning phase, the project has now entered the tendering stage.

The ministry’s objective, as outlined in the tender documentation, involves the replacement of damaged kerbs and paving blocks within the designated area.

The scope of work also encompasses the milling of the existing asphalt, reaching a thickness of 50mm, and subsequently overlaying it with BRM14 asphalt.

Additionally, the project entails the creation of fresh road markings to enhance traffic management and safety.

For those interested in participating, bids are welcome before September 24, 2023.

A security bond of BD2500 is required to accompany the bids.

However, it’s essential to note that only contractors possessing a valid pre-qualification licence registered under the category of asphalt works with grades A, B, or C from the Ministry of Works are eligible to submit their applications.
