The "Smile" initiative has launched the 10th edition of the "Our Children Are Like Gold 10" campaign in Bahrain. The campaign aims to raise awareness about childhood cancer in the kingdom.

The event coincides with September being designated as World Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Various activities were held at the main headquarters of the "Smile" initiative in Umm Al Hassam as part of the campaign.

It was attended by the Social Development Ministry's Assistant Undersecretary for Community Development, Enas Mohammed Al Majid, as well as representatives from government hospitals, health centres, and sponsors.

The "Smile" initiative is associated with the Future Youth Association, which offers psychological and social support to children with cancer and their parents. The campaign launch included a tour of the "Smile" initiative’s headquarters, where participants learned about the services provided to children with cancer and their families.

The headquarters have different rooms for education, drawing, entertainment, games, and activities. Future Youth Association president Sabah Abdul Rahman Al Zayani stated that the campaign aims to raise awareness about childhood cancer at the local, regional, and global levels.

It also seeks to gather support for sick children fighting this disease and contribute to global efforts in controlling its spread, he added. Al Zayani emphasised the initiative’s collaboration with various partners in the health sector, including the Ministry of Health, hospitals, health centres, private companies, and civil society institutions.

The campaign’s success relies on the solidarity of everyone involved, he noted. Al Zayani expressed their commitment to bringing happiness to the children’s hearts and inspiring hope in their families for the tenth consecutive year.
