Ombudsman Office keen to cooperate with diplomatic missions

The Office of the Ombudsman is keen to extend bridges of communication with the relevant entities, including the diplomatic missions accredited in the kingdom.
This was affirmed by Ghada Hameed Habib, the Ombudswoman and Chairperson of the Prisoners and Detainees Rights Commission (PDRC), as she received Italian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain Paola Amadi.
The two sides reviewed cooperation and ways to exchange expertise with similar Italian agencies, as part of the Office of the Ombudsman’s international cooperation and development programmes.
Ghada reviewed the recent efforts and activities of the Office of the Ombudsman, particularly those related to following up on the situation of inmates, and verifying the services and care they receive.
She also highlighted efforts to support the Ministry of Interior’s plans and initiatives pertaining to the development of services provided by correctional, rehabilitation, and pretrial detention centres, in cooperation with the national independent institutions, such as the Office of the Ombudsman and PDRC.
