The Ministry of Interior celebrated the International Day of Police Cooperation, which was designated by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). The occasion also coincides with the 100th anniversary of the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol).

Interior Minister, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, expressed the ministry’s appreciation for the Interpol’s efforts to support police agencies globally, as well as to provide all necessary resources to combat crime and maintain international peace and security.

The minister said that in implementation of the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and with the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the ministry gives high importance to effectively contribute to international security cooperation efforts.

The Interior Ministry has been contributing since joining the Interpol in 1972 and the Arab Interior Ministers Council in 1982 to developing security efforts in combating terrorism and organised crimes through exchanging significant information and analysing them through joint databases.

This year, more than 3,000 pieces of information were exchanged with 95 countries and members, in addition to exchanging international fugitives with member countries. Sixteen fugitives wanted in international cases were handed to concerned countries, while 13 fugitives were handed to us by various countries.

This showcases the dedication of all member countries to promote security cooperation and coordination to the highest level of accuracy, professionalism and swift response in exchanging and analysing information to track down fugitives and fight international crimes.
