Praise for growing Bahrain-UK ties and cooperation

MP Dr. Maryam Al-Dhean emphasized the deep-seated relations that unite the Kingdom of Bahrain and the friendly United Kingdom, the reflection of the relationship on the overall development goals under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa and the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Prime Minister.

The Bahraini-British relationship was based on a foundation of joint action and strong historical ties of excellence that had lasted for more than 200 years.

She stressed the importance of continuing to develop it to achieve greater partnerships at all levels in order to achieve common aspirations through a strategic partnership for cooperation and investment.

She also noted the agreements and memorandums of understanding signed between the two friendly countries and their impact in strengthening the distinct levels of cooperation and partnership and moving them towards broader horizons in the interests of common interests and the desired objectives, which serve to strengthen economic and investment cooperation between the two friendly countries.

The strengthening and further development of existing partnerships would contribute to the opening up of broader pathways in vital sectors and would serve to strengthen the position of the Kingdom of Bahrain and its competitiveness on the map of attractive investment destinations in various fields by deepening cooperation with brothers and allies in order to achieve the development goals whose positive results are in the interest of all and to advance economic growth in a manner that fulfils hopes and aspirations.

H.E. noted that the past period had seen the signing of several conventions, including the updated Convention on the Exchange of Navigational Information and Data, the sale and global promotion of nautical charts issued by the Kingdom of Bahrain, the provision of development and training programmes for Bahraini personnel in the field of maritime space and nautical charting, and the knowledge of the best technological means in this area.

It stressed that cooperation between the two countries in previous years had resulted in many achievements between the two parties and that the United Kingdom played a central role in the consolidation of international security and stability in the region.

The attraction of more investment between the two countries would contribute to trade and economic cooperation, and the volume and multiplication of trade between the two countries over the past years reflected the productive economic climate and steady growth in goods and services.

She also touched on the coordination and cooperation were numerous, including impartial and impartial reports on human rights and democracy.

The recent report contained many positive references to the human rights situation in Bahrain, particularly with regard to security and justice issues, which demonstrated unequivocally that the Kingdom of Bahrain had proved to be a pioneering model at the Arab and regional levels in advancing the promotion of human rights. 

The contents of the treaties that bring the two countries together, which include the promotion of cooperation in the educational, scientific, and cultural fields and the enhancement of mutual understanding concerning the culture, civilisation, and language of each of the parties, call for the promotion of cooperation in the exchange of technical, scientific, and cultural information and the organization of contacts between professional bodies, universities, and cultural institutes.

Finally H.E. expressed with full  confidence that bilateral cooperation between the two sides in various areas would continue to grow and that Bahraini-British relations would be reflected in the strengthening of security through the consolidation of joint efforts and capacity-building in various aspects of policing and combating terrorism and its financing, as well as in border security, responses to crises and disasters and cybersecurity, noting the role of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening and consolidating these long-standing relations.
