The Lower Sharia Court of Bahrain ordered the inclusion of a 10-year-old girl and an eight-year-old boy in their Bahraini mother’s custody and verified her custody of another three-year-old child.

The court also ordered the father, a Gulf national, to pay BD180 in monthly alimony to the children, divided equally between them, in addition to BD120 for Eid, winter and summer clothing, and BD100 for education and stationery expenses, provided biannually and divided equally between them.

The wife’s representative said that her client’s husband had extramarital affairs that negatively affected the children. The wife had attached compromising photographs of her husband and expressed anxiety about the children remaining in his company due to his behaviour.

Lacking security with her husband in his home country, she wished to transfer her children to schools in Bahrain so that they could be close to her own parents’ home. However, the children cannot be registered in Bahraini schools unless she has custody of them. The father filed a counterclaim.
