Bahrain sends first relief aid shipment to Libya

The Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF), under the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, has sent its first shipment of relief aid to victims of flash floods in Libya.
The shipment, containing relief and medical materials, was launched under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs.
As of yesterday, the death toll from the devastating floods in eastern Libya has surpassed 11,000, according to the Libyan Red Crescent. More than 9,000 people are still missing, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
HH Shaikh Nasser expressed gratitude to HM the King for his generous support and allowing the foundation to serve the Libyan people. He highlighted HM the King’s keenness to provide continuous humanitarian initiatives to help those in need in various parts of the world.
HH Shaikh Nasser also praised His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for his constant support to the initiatives.
HM the King’s Representative emphasised that “the Kingdom of Bahrain stands by the Libyan people in this crisis.” Bahrain seeks to consolidate international solidarity based on the fraternal and humanitarian ties that bring together various peoples.
RHF Secretary-General Dr. Mustafa Al Sayed also thanked His Majesty for his directives, and praised his commitment to extending help to those in need worldwide. Dr. Al Sayed also lauded the presence of Shaikh Adnan bin Abdullah Al Qattan, Vice Chairman of the RHF Board of Trustees, during the launch of the aid shipment.
