Bahrain is committed to upholding environmental principles, adopting innovative green economy plans, and using environment-friendly technologies to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.

This was affirmed by Oil and Environment Minister Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Bin Dinah, Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, as he met with members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bahrain (AmCham Bahrain).

The meeting reviewed sustainability initiatives in the oil and energy sectors, the private sectors role in enhancing national efforts to diversify energy sources, as well as Bahrain’s strategies for diversification and transformation in the energy sector.

The two sides also shed light on the private sectors’ investment opportunities in renewable energy projects, and enhancing environmental cooperation between US energy companies and their Bahraini counterparts, in addition to a number of topics related to environmental issues and clean energy.

Amcham Bahrain President Qays Al Zubi emphasised the importance of the private sector in environmental sustainability in Bahrain. “As part of our partnership with the Ministry of Oil and Environment, AmCham Bahrain demonstrates its commitment to supporting Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030’s environmental sustainability goals, and we are eager to explore innovative ways to work together and contribute to the achievement of these objectives,” he added.

Enhancing cooperation

During the meeting, they also discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the ministry and AmCham Bahrain in the sustainable development and renewable energy sectors.

The minister praised the private sector’s efforts in boosting national and international entities aimed at protecting the environment, as well as achieving a logical balance between the environmental, developmental and economic rights of humans.
