Bahrain vows to utilise key space technologies

National Space Science Authority (NSSA) CEO Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Al Asiri emphasised the importance of education and advanced scientific research in achieving development and prosperity.

He affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s dedication to keeping pace with global scientific advancements, and commitment to utilising space technologies for comprehensive and sustainable development.

Dr. Al Asiri made the statements as he was participating in the opening main episode of the United Nations Scientific Summit. The session, entitled “Space Exploration and Our Modern World”, was moderated by international law expert Dr. Marilyn Lussier and attended by over a hundred participants from around the world.

During his participation, Dr. Al Asiri highlighted the journey of the NSSA since its founding and its vision for achieving sustainable development goals. He also discussed the authority’s achievements and its efforts in building relationships with various partners.

Dr. Al Asiri presented the contributions of space technologies in supporting comprehensive and sustainable development goals approved by the United Nations General Assembly.

He addressed questions on the benefits of space applications and space exploration for humanity and Bahrain. He also emphasised the role of space diplomacy in promoting international peace and security, citing historical examples and ongoing practices.
