Bahrain takes part in GCC joint ministerial meeting

Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani took part in the GCC Joint Ministerial meeting with Association of Caribbean States (ACS), on the sidelines of the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 78).

The GCC delegation was headed by Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Al Busaidi, Oman’s Foreign Affairs Minister and chairman of the ministerial council’s current session, in the presence of GCC countries’ foreign ministers and Jasem Mohamed Al Budaiwi, GCC Secretary-General.

The ACS delegation was headed by Rodolfo Sabonge, Secretary General of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS). The meeting discussed the developments of the GCC and ACS relations and ways to benefit from the opportunities available to increase cooperation between the two sides in various economic, social, cultural and development fields.

They also reviewed increasing coordination between the two sides in international forums and exchanging visits and experiences to meet the common interests and goals of both sides.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation and a joint action plan was signed between the GCC Secretariat General, represented by Jasem Mohamed Al Budaiwi and ACS, represented by Rodolfo Sabonge.

UN session

Dr. Al Zayani also led the delegation of Bahrain participating in the opening session of the General Debate of the United Nations General Assembly.

The session was held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, under the theme “Rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity: Accelerating action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals towards peace, prosperity, progress, and sustainability for all”, chaired by the President of the current session of the UN General Assembly Dennis Francis, and with the participation of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres.

Bahrain’s delegation participating in the opening of the General Assembly included the Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Mubarak bin Daina, the Minister of Sustainable Development, Noor Ali Al-Khulaif, and the accompanying delegation.
