Indian School Bahrain Youth Festival kicks off in style

The much-anticipated Indian School Youth Festival Tarang 2023 commenced with grandeur and enthusiasm yesterday at the school’s Jashanmal auditorium in Isa Town.

Chief Guest Indian Embassy Second Secretary Ravi Kumar Jain declared the festival open and inaugurated the brand-new LED stage screen display in the auditorium.

ISB Hon. Chairman Prince S Natarajan, Hon. Secretary Saji Antony, EC Members Binu Mannil Varughese, Premalatha NS, Rajesh MN, Ajayakrishnan V, Mohammed Nyaz Ullah, Principal VR Palaniswamy, Riffa campus Principal Pamela Xavier, Staff Representative Johnson K Devassy and Vice-Principals attended the event.

This LED display will be integrated into the school curriculum to make learning more enjoyable providing easiness in learning. The dynamic nature of LED displays will boost student engagement and enhance their understanding of the lessons and creativity.

The display consumes less electricity contributing to cost savings in flex banners and environmental sustainability. Former Chairman of ICRF Arul Das was honoured with a memento for supporting the Indian School as part of CSR initiatives.

Anjali Shameer, who emerged as the school topper in CBSE class XII exam, was honoured with a gold medal during the ceremony. The opening ceremony was a visual extravaganza, featuring colourful folk dance performances, mesmerising group songs and mime.

The Indian School follows the House system in which students are grouped into Aryabhata, Vikram Sarabhai, JC Bose and CV Raman Houses competing to win the laurels. The students who score the most points in stage and non-stage events will be eligible for the Kalashri and Kalaratna awards.

“The Indian School Youth Festival is not just about showcasing talent but also about fostering a sense of unity and understanding among the students and developing their personality,” said ISB Hon. Chairman Prince S Natarajan.

With more than 5,000 students participating in 120 events, the ISB Youth Fest is considered one of the biggest school youth festivals in the Gulf countries. The stage events will continue on September 23,24,25,26 and the Grand Finale is scheduled to take place later. The prestigious Kalashri and Kalaratna awards and House champion awards will be presented at the grand finale.
