Partnerships to enrich Bahrain’s space science

Bahrain’s Ambassador to the US, Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, has emphasised the need to enhance cooperation and partnerships in space exploration, focusing on scientific studies, experimentation, and communication among countries with shared visions to achieve these goals.
The envoy was speaking during the last episode of the "Bahrain Banter" podcast programme, which focused on space technology and science. The Ambassador hosted Shelley Brunswick, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Space Foundation, and two Bahraini students, Nasser Al Quti and Maryam Al Awadhi, who are graduates of US Space camp.

He highlighted Bahrain's achievements thanks to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s vision and the signing of the "Artemis" Accords by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister during HRH's official visit to Washington in March 2022.
The Artemis Accords, a collaboration between Bahrain's National Space Science Agency (NSSA) and the US-based Kallman Worldwide Foundation, promotes cooperation among participating countries through shared principles.
Brunswick highlighted the significance of space exploration, and stressed its applications on Earth, including telecommunications, navigation, agriculture, public safety, and transportation.
The Artemis Accords, a cooperative agreement between participating countries, aim to facilitate human return to the Moon by 2025 and promote space exploration expansion, she added.
Students Nasser Al Quti and Maryam Al Awadhi, nominated NSSA in Bahrain, expressed their pride in participating in a space camp in the US.
They highlighted their experience in space exploration and science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields, noting that it has inspired them to pursue a future career in the space industry.
