Over 500,000 Indian tourists visited Bahrain in the first half of 2023, up 87% from over 270,000 in the same period in the previous year. The data was revealed by Indian Ambassador to Bahrain Vinod K. Jacob during a reception organised by the Bahrain-India Society at the Crowne Plaza Hotel yesterday.

The event was attended by top businessmen from both India and Bahrain. In his opening remarks, Ambassador Jacob highlighted the importance of strengthening the economic and commercial ties between the two countries.

“As of mid-September 2023, the embassy has issued a total of 3,904 visas, of which 64% were tourist visas. On the other hand, I would like to welcome more Bahraini friends to visit India for leisure, business, education, and cultural purposes,” he said.

Speaking to The Daily Tribune, Abdulrahman Mohammed Juma, Chairperson of the Bahrain-India Society, said that the Ambassador would support the Bahrain-India Society in its efforts to promote business between the two communities.

“We are interested in setting up businesses in Bahrain and attracting Bahraini companies or investors to set up businesses in suitable Indian areas. The main aim of today’s event is to welcome His Excellency the Ambassador and to slowly promote business for both communities,” he said.

The event was a success, and it is hoped that it will lead to increased cooperation and collaboration between the business communities of India and Bahrain.
