Al Areen Wildlife Park and Reserve has received SGS’s 'Best Contribution to the Preservation of Wildlife' Certification for both plants and animals in Bahrain and Arabian countries in general.

SGS is the world’s leading testing, inspection, and certification company, recognised as the global benchmark for sustainability, quality, and integrity.

The certification was awarded to Al Areen Wildlife Park and Reserve Acting Director Shaikh Mishal Ebrahim AlKhalifa by SGS Managing Director Roy Skaria in an official ceremony held at the park yesterday as part of World Animal Day celebrations.

"On this International Animal Day, we sincerely thank SGS for choosing Al Areen Wildlife Park as the venue for this important occasion. It is an honor to host this event and to celebrate the amazing diversity of animals. We are committed to protecting our animals and their habitats, and we appreciate the support of the community in this effort." Shaikh Mishal told The Daily Tribune.

Al Areen Wildlife Park and Reserve is home to over 1,000 animals from over 100 different species, including many that are endangered or threatened.

The park is committed to providing the best possible care for its animals and to educating the public about the importance of wildlife conservation.

It plays a vital role in the preservation of wildlife in Bahrain and the Arabian region.

As part of the initiative, SGS organised an animal feeding programme in collaboration with Al Areen Park and visitors.

The One Heart Bahrain volunteer group also joined the initiative, providing continuous support for the feeding process of the animals and helping visitors feed animals at Al Areen Park.

Ammar Isa Alwazzan, Chief of Administration Services, Supreme Council for Environment, told The Daily Tribune, “This initiative shows the world how Bahrain is treating animals.

Deron Kester, a visitor, said, “It’s a great thing to do something for the animals. I’m really happy to be a part of it."

Mr. Skaria said, “We recognise Al Areen’s commitment to wildlife preservation here in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

It’s important for us to appreciate their efforts so that we can raise awareness on how we can take care of our animals best.”

Roxanne Perreault, Head of Sustainability at SGS, highlighted that “Sustainability is at the core of our values at SGS, and to celebrate this year’s World Animal Day, we are honoured to collaborate with Al Areen to ignite change and give our wildlife the love and care they deserve.”
