Employee faces trial in Bahrain for alleged salary fraud scheme

An employee of a private Bahrain company is facing trial for allegedly obtaining an unauthorised salary increase by exploiting the firm’s electronic payroll system.
The individual reportedly snatched a coworker’s password to illegally access the company's system. According to a police report, the employee used the credentials to inflate his salary without proper approval.
Investigators revealed that the scheme was uncovered when the company’s IT manager noticed discrepancies in payroll records and flagged suspicious transactions. The matter was referred to the Electronic Crimes Department, which conducted a forensic audit of the system and provided detailed evidence to prosecutors.
The Public Prosecution has now brought charges against the individual based on the findings of the audit and witness statements. The case will be heard in the Third Minor Criminal Court later this month.
