Call for preserving public money, expenditure cut

Information, Shura and Representatives Councils Minister Isa bin Abdulrahman Al Hammadi yesterday stressed the government’s resolve to continue preserving public money and minimising expenditure as possible, which stems from the government’s realisation of the current stage requirements and challenges. The minister, during the weekly Shura session, noted the government’s decision to temporarily freeze bonuses of the government’s representatives at boards of directors of authorities, institutions and companies in which the government owns the largest portion of stock.

The government’s decision comes in conformity with the corporate law and government expenditure, he added.

Industry, Commerce and Tourism Minister Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani emphasised the government’s commitment to specifications and standards of imported products regardless of the country of origin.

He noted the adoption of new standards, which would come into effect in next February, on imported air- condition equipment.

During the Shura Council discussion about a draft law accompanying the Royal Decree No. (81/2013) on specifications and standards, the minister pointed out the ministry continued to work together with the relevant authorities in the development of specifications and standards of products and goods in line with the general interest of consumers and the environment.

He called for abiding by terms of the Commercial Register and specifications and standards in force in Bahrain. He called on Bahraini merchants to think through the social responsibility and legislations in force.
