Open humanitarian corridors for Gaza aid: Bahrain King

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa stressed the need to urgently open humanitarian corridors for the entry of medical and relief aid, food, water and the provision of electricity to Gaza.

HM the King reaffirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s full support for the coordination of all efforts aimed at achieving just peace, stability and security for all the peoples of the region.

His Majesty was speaking as he met yesterday with Italian President Sergio Mattarella at the Presidential Palace in Rome, on the occasion of his visit to Italy. Upon the arrival of HM King Hamad, President Mattarella welcomed him and his visit, which provides strong impetus for the development of Bahraini-Italian relations.

During the meeting, they reviewed all aspects of their close bilateral relations and ways to develop and strengthen them to achieve common goals, as well as the latest regional and international developments, and the situation in the Gaza Strip.

HM the King reaffirmed Bahrain’s approach, which calls for strengthening security, stability and consolidating peace which would be achieved by giving the Palestinian people their legitimate rights and finding a just solution to the Palestinian issue, to reach a two-state solution in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative, that guarantees the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent State, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He affirmed the need to prevent any worsening of the situation, to work for the release of detained civilians, and to protect all civilians who - under international humanitarian law - must not be the target of any conflict.

His Majesty expressed his appreciation for the important role played by the Italian Republic at the international level and its contributions to international peace and security.
