The Occupational Health and Safety Committee of the Free Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions, in collaboration with the Al Hur Center for Bahraini Retirees and the Silwan Psychiatric Hospital, organised a lecture entitled “Life Stress and Mental Health.”
The event was part of the World Mental Health Day celebration. Dr. Mai Medhat Ramzi, Psychological and Behavioral Therapist Specialist and Head of the Clinical Psychology Department at Silwan Psychiatric Hospital, presented the lecture.
Dr. Ramzi discussed mental health as a state of balance between the environment, body, and self, leading to physical, psychological, and social comfort. She also explained the causes that lead to mental health problems and divided people into five categories based on their levels of mental health.
Dr. Ramzi emphasised the importance of early intervention and seeking professional help for mental health issues and the need for a comprehensive approach that includes awareness, education, prevention, and access to quality mental health services. The lecture aimed to raise awareness about the impact of life stress on mental health and promote a better understanding of mental health as a crucial aspect of overall well-being.
