European and Bahraini partners get together to promote multilingualism as an enabler of intercultural understanding and business opportunities.
Each year, the Council of Europe and the European Union celebrate the European Day of Languages to highlight the continent’s linguistic and cultural richness and to raise awareness of the importance of language learning to increase intercultural understanding.
To mark this occasion, the European Union Delegation to the Kingdom of Bahrain is hosting a European Night of Languages.
Participants will practice various European languages and interact with several embassies of the EU Member States and language specialists.
The event is held in partnership with the German, French, and Italian embassies and the Greek Consulate in Bahrain.
It is supported by Alliance Francaise, the ‘Grazia Deledda’ Centre for Italian Language and Culture, the Spanish and Arabic World, and the Ellinomatheia Certification Centre, with participation from the Croatian Embassy and the Beacon Private School.
Speaking ahead of the event, the EU Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, H.E. Christophe Farnaud, said: “The EU is a tapestry of cultures and languages, and we are united with Bahrain by our shared belief in the power of language learning.
In a globalised economy, language skills are essential for success, and they also enable us to connect with people from all over the world and learn from their cultures.
We are thrilled to collaborate on an enhanced journey of language learning and cultural exchange.”
The European Night of Languages will be hosted at the Movenpick Hotel in Manama today, starting at 6 p.m.
