The Ministry of Labour recently organised a specialised workshop titled “Duties and Responsibilities of Safety Committees in Establishments.” The workshop brought together occupational safety and health supervisors, human resources managers, trade union representatives, and officials from various companies and private sector institutions.

It aimed to promote the principles of occupational safety and health in Bahrain by raising awareness about the duties and responsibilities of safety committees in companies and institutions operating in the private sector.

It also focused on discussing the organisational structure of safety committees and the responsibilities of management in occupational safety and health. The workshop saw a significant turnout of specialists, reflecting the commitment of all stakeholders to enhance the culture of safety and increase professional awareness among employers and workers.

The discussions emphasised the importance of implementing occupational safety and health standards and fostering cooperation between relevant authorities to reduce accidents and occupational risks in workplaces.

During the workshop, Mr. Hisham Al Alawi from Aluminum Bahrain (Alba) highlighted the roles, duties, and responsibilities of safety committees in facilities. He also discussed the establishment of safety committees in accordance with international and national legislation and laws. The workshop further explored the experiences and initiatives of companies dedicated to ensuring the health and well-being of their workforce.

Overall, the workshop served as a platform for sharing knowledge and best practices in occupational safety and health, aiming to protect workers from the hazards of their work and prevent accidents effectively. The Ministry remains steadfast in its commitment to promoting occupational safety and health in Bahrain and creating a safer work environment for all.
