Rooba bags bronze for Bahrain at Asia Para Games

Bahrain’s Rooba Alomari has bagged a bronze medal at the fourth Asia Para Games, currently being held in Hangzhou, China.
Rooba captured her bronze in the women’s javelin throw-F56 final. She registered a best mark of 17.26 metres in her sixth and final attempt, earning her her place on the podium.
She joined gold-medallist Sitong Lin of China and silver-medallist Natalya Semyonova of Uzbekistan in the top three. Lin’s best effort was 21.53m, which was a new Games record, while Semyonova had a mark of 17.40m, narrowly beating out Rooba for the runner-up spot.
Rooba’s other throws were 17.25m, 15.96m, 15.91m and 16.54m. Her second attempt was not recorded. Rooba’s bronze was Bahrain’s first and only medal so far at this year’s Asian Para Games.
The Kingdom’s national team at the event are ranked tied-26th on the medal table amongst the 31 nations who have already made it onto the podium in Hangzhou.
