Filipino workers complete dressmaking training program

Twenty-three Filipinos in the Kingdom Bahrain obtained their certificates of training after taking part in a dressmaking skills program organised by Pinay Ikaw Na (PIN), the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) recently at Arman Hotel.
Participants of the six-Friday skills training were given lectures on the basics of dressmaking and hands-on machine exercises aside from pattern making, cutting and draping, fabric design and illustration.
The students design, cut and sew the gowns they wore during the graduation ceremony.
Speaking on the ceremony, Celia Cabadonga, the Officer-in-Charge of the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and the guest speaker extended her congratulations to the graduates and commended Pinay Ikaw Na for their unwavering support to the cause of overseas workers.
In her inspirational talk, Philippine Ambassador to Bahrain, Her Excellency Anne Jalando-on Louis, congratulated the participants for completing the skills training.
She recognised their efforts for i nvesting their time to attend the course and encouraged them to use their learnings for future endeavour.
“Whatever skills you’ve learned from these programs will empower you and will open opportunities that will help you and your families,’’ Ambassador Louis added.
