Bahrain, Sri Lanka strengthening ties through cultural heritage

To strengthen relations between Bahrain and Sri Lanka, the Sri Lankan Embassy and the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) organised a lecture at the National Museum of Bahrain.
The lecture, titled “Historical Relations Between Sri Lanka and the Middle East,” was given by Raj Somadeva, a senior professor attached to the Postgraduate Institute of Archaeology (PGIAR), University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka.
The chief guest was BACA President Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa.
Other guests included MP of Bahrain Hassan Eid Bokhammas, ambassadors of the UK, India, Pakistan, and Nepal, culture enthusiasts, and members of Sri Lankan community organisations in Bahrain.
Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed expressed his gratitude to Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Bahrain, H.E. Wijeratne Mendis, for the initiative to enhance cultural cooperation between the two countries.
He also appreciated Prof. Somadeva for his extensive research on Arabic and Islamic cultural heritage in Sri Lanka and its relations with the Middle East region.
