Various departments of Bahrain's Interior Ministry went into overdrive mode yesterday in their efforts to tackle the issues and damages that arose following the heavy rains.
The actions were taken following a directive issued by the Interior Minister and Civil Defense Council chairman, HE General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, to take necessary measures to ensure public safety and to deal with the aftermath of the rains.
The Operations Department, in coordination with the police directorates in the four governorates, civil defense, and traffic, took steps to ensure that the citizens could manage to continue their daily affairs.
They also took measures to urgently deal with rainwater accumulation using pumps, in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture and the Ministry of Works.
Following the rains, traffic patrols on Thursday dealt with various reports that directly included 43 minor damage accidents, towing vehicles that broke down in rainwater pools, managing traffic at intersections and main streets, helping those whose vehicles broke down, diverting traffic as needed, monitoring traffic movement, and taking the necessary measures to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.
The Civil Defense handled several reports of damages, including 50 reports of falling trees, lighting poles, and an electrical short circuit.
