LMRA launches Bahrain Awareness Awards 2015
Launching the second edition of Bahrain Awareness Awards, Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) CEO Ausamah Al Absi has said the competition aims at youths who are the base of the Kingdom’s social fabric.
Addressing the media yesterday, he said that last year’s response was overwhelming, receiving 750,000 hits on social media on the videos and still submitted by the participants.
This response has prompted the LMRA to widen the regional scope of the award, allowing GCC nationals and residents between the age of 16 and 26 to participate in the award.
“The youths have more energy and creativity. They are the employers of the future. As well as they will be the prospective employees or colleagues of expats. That’s why they are going to act as the ambassadors of the cause,” said the LMRA CEO.
There will be contests in two categories. First one is a two-minute video and second category would be a combination of stills.
The stills may be photos, drawings, illustrations
etc., he said.
The duration of the video has been reduced to two minutes this time as the organisers came to know that a lot of people stopped watching the video after a certain duration, he said.
The total award prize would be BD50,000, with BD10,000 each to the winners of video and still category respectively, he said.
The doors for submission of entries will open on December 1 and this year’s theme would be ‘Fair Treatment,’ Al Absi said, adding that the theme aimed at highlighting the basic element of decent humane treatment.
On selection of Zain Telecom as their partners, he said that this telecom company not only has an impressive Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, but also because of its geographical reach within the GCC.
Mohammed Zainalabedin, General Manager of Zain Bahrain, said that the awards not only have the element of social responsibility, but also they promote creativity among the youth.
Zain will leverage all its capabilities to make this programme a grand success, he said. “From last year’s programme, we have seen that there are innovative ideas, which made the programme a success,” he said, adding that the organisers would see a great result at the end.
