Information minister lauds solid Bahraini-Egyptian ties

Cairo

Minister of Information Affairs Isa bin Abdulrahman Al Hammadi has lauded the depth of the deep-rooted Bahraini-Egyptian relations here on yesterday.

He was speaking during a dinner banquet, in the presence of the Bahrain's Ambassador to Egypt Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, a number of Egyptian officials, journalists, media figures and the Bahraini delegation to the third Ordinary Session of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Information Ministers and 46th session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, held in Cairo.

The minister underscored the importance of promoting bilateral cooperation in the field of media and exchanging technical and human expertise in communication media, given media’s pivotal role in disseminating national awareness, fighting intellectual extremism and terrorism and strengthening the sustainable development march to serve the best interests of both countries and their peoples.

He expressed his interest in enhancing cooperation with Egyptian media institutions in the field of training and preparing cadres, exchanging news and information, transferring modern technologies and activating joint Arab media work, wishing Egypt and its people more security, progress and prosperity under the leadership of President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi.

Al-Hammadi asserted that traditional and electronic media, including social media networks and their users, bear professional and legal responsibility to spread the values of tolerance, moderation and dialogue, countering incitement of sectarian hatred, racism, violence and terrorism and criminalising them as well as rejecting any threat to the Arab national security.

He underlined the importance of the Arab media’s role in raising the awareness of the public opinion on national and Arab issues, calling for concerted efforts to protect the national security and sovereignty of the Arab states and reject any interference in their internal affairs, so as to provide a safe atmosphere for the advancement of economic and social development.
