Bahrain implements best global practices in alternative sentencing programme

The Interior Ministry, led by the minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, has applied best international practices in the implementation of the alternative sentencing and open prisons programme.
This was emphasised by Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, the Director-General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing at the Interior Ministry, as he met a staff delegation from the US Senate and House of Representatives.
Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah briefed the delegation on the alternative sentencing and open prisons programme, which is one of the outcomes of the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa that is supported by the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The delegation was briefed on the objectives of the programme and was given a tour in the open prisons complex and its facilities, which include educational units, accommodation, services and livelihood requirements, a gymnasium and mind sports space and an online communication section.
