Airport witnesses heavy rush
The Bahrain International Airport witnessed an unprecedented rush as a huge number of passengers travelled through the airport yesterday. According to sources, the rush was due to the Jewellery Arabia 2015, which attracted a huge number of visitors to the country.
According to the organisers of the event, Jewellery Arabia 2015 is expected to attract about 50,000 visitors. The event will conclude on November 28.
The immigration counters had a long queue especially in the morning at the arrival section, the source said. Sources added that the parking lots of the airport also witnessed heavy pressure due to increased passenger movement.
Meanwhile, a source from the airport said that Jewellery Arabia 2015 was only one of the major reasons for heavy rush in the airport yesterday. But the last two months and the first month of the year usually remain busy as a lot of people of Bahrain go on pilgrimage to Iraq and Saudi Arabia in this season, the source said.
