Over the weekend, a multitude of visitors flocked to witness the diverse array of local animals on display.
Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, emphasised that the success of Mara’ee 2023 was significantly boosted by the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
He praised the royal directives aimed at developing the show to bolster the kingdom’s efforts to achieve higher food security rates.
Highlighting the alignment of the show with government policies led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, Al Mubarak, underscored its role in enhancing the kingdom’s leading position and addressing food security concerns.
He stressed that Mara’ee has solidified the kingdom’s standing in specialised exhibitions, serving as a platform for significant deals in the fields of animal and agricultural production.
Al Mubarak assured that the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture would persist in supporting private sector participation in the animal and agriculture sectors.
He noted that Mara’ee 6 marked a qualitative leap compared to the previous edition, showcasing rare and purebred species from around the world.
Attracted by its entertaining activities and competitions, thousands of students visited Mara’ee 2023.
The show featured the exhibition of internationally registered, localised animal breeds and poultry for the first time.
The exhibition, an integral part of the show, showcased a wide variety of plants and home hydroponic systems, with footfall yesterday crossing 10,000.
On the sidelines of the expo, Dr. Abdelmawgoud Ragab, Consultant of Agriculture at the Engineering Ministry of Agriculture and Municipality, spoke to The Daily Tribune about the exhibition’s objectives.
He emphasised, “Our primary goal is to raise awareness about the new agricultural systems that are best suited to Bahrain’s environmental conditions.”
Dr. Ragab elaborated, “We are introducing various soil techniques that optimise water and fertiliser usage.
Additionally, we have set up a plant factory that utilises artificial lights and harnesses renewable resources like solar energy to power the system.”
He also highlighted the exhibition’s focus on promoting smaller systems tailored for home gardens and indoor production.
These systems are designed for hassle-free cultivation of leafy vegetables, boasting a remarkable 20 percent plant growth rate compared to traditional cultivation methods.
In addition to showcasing cutting-edge agricultural practices, the exhibition aimed to educate attendees about tissue culture techniques for propagating pulp and organic flowers.
Dr. Ragab expressed the organisers’ commitment to imparting valuable knowledge to the public regarding these innovative cultivation methods.

By emphasising resource efficiency and introducing novel techniques, the exhibition left an indelible impression on visitors, paving the way for a greener and more productive future in Bahrain’s agricultural sector.
Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak became Minister of Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture.
