In a tragic incident yesterday, an Asian man lost his life when a vehicle lost control and crashed into a shop in Karzakan.
The 22-year-old, who was inside the shop at the time, sustained serious injuries in the accident, said the Bahrain Interior Ministry.
He was rushed to a hospital but succumbed, as the injuries proved fatal.
An investigation is ongoing into the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
Civil defence forces, who reached the scene immediately, took control of the situation.
It is uncertain whether others sustained injuries in the incident.
In a comparable incident on July 10 and covered by The Daily Tribune, a 36-year-old motorcyclist lost his life in a harrowing collision on Al Ghous Street in Muharraq.
The collision transpired when a car collided with a motorcycle.
Underscoring concerning figures, a recent report from a Ministry of Works department disclosed that pedestrians comprised a significant majority of traffic accident victims over the past three years.
Out of the total incidents, 48 pedestrians either suffered injuries or lost their lives.
The report, stemming from the Traffic Safety Group's Road Safety Audit, further indicated that drivers, passengers, motorcyclists, and cyclists were also affected.
In response to this pressing issue, the General Directorate of Traffic has introduced diverse measures to bolster road safety.
These initiatives have led to a commendable 50% reduction in fatal accidents across the Kingdom.
