Bahrain Shura Council discusses report on proposed Strategic Stockpiling Law

The Shura Council discussed the Public Utilities and Environmental Committee report on the proposed Strategic Stockpiling Law presented by rapporteur Juma Al Kaabi.

This came as the Council convened for its eighth session of the second legislative term under the chairmanship of His Excellency Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh. Committee members Drs. Jihad Al Fadhel, Mohammed Ali Hassan Ali and Ali Al Aradi as well as Jamal Fakhro and Bassam Al Bin Mohammed contributed to drafting the regulations.

The Shura Council members endorsed referring the proposal to the Cabinet after validating the need to ensure stable supplies, fair pricing and national economic protection through strategic planning and reserves management.

Members were first briefed by Secretary General Karima Al Abbasi on conclusions from the Council of Representatives regarding draft laws added to the Civil Service and Housing legislations. An inquiry by member Sabeeka Al Fadala to the Social Development Minister was also noted.

Meanwhile, the Council approved returning the Services Committee report on vocational training law amendments for further review. In closing, members received an update from Bahrain’s parliamentary delegation to COP27 and Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union meetings held in Egypt.
