A delegation from the National Space Science Authority (NSSA), led by its CEO, Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Asiri, visited the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) to discuss and enhance cooperation between the two organisations.

The meeting, attended by HE Ahmed Mohammed Al Dosari, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Japan, focused on reviewing previous collaborations and exploring new opportunities in various fields.

During the visit, Dr. Al Asiri and the delegation were briefed on JAXA’s space exploration programme and had the opportunity to tour key facilities, including control rooms, satellite control stations, advanced laboratories, and the education and training centre.

The delegation also visited the Kyushu Institute of Technology, known for its expertise in the space sector and its support programmes for emerging space sectors worldwide. Amal Al Binali, Director of Project Management and Strategic Planning, highlighted the successful collaboration between the NSAA and JAXA, particularly the launch of the Bahraini-Emirati satellite Light 1 into space orbit through JAXA’s platform within the International Space Station.

The Japanese side expressed admiration for the achievements of the NSSA since its establishment. This visit marks an important step in strengthening the partnership between Bahrain and Japan in the field of space exploration, with a focus on knowledge exchange, capacity building, and joint projects. The NSSA aims to leverage international best practices and continue its efforts in developing the space sector in Bahrain.
