Thousands of Sikh devotees mark Guru Nanak Ji Gurpurab in Bahrain

In a grand commemoration, many Sikh devotees convened at the Salmabad Gurudwara in the Kingdom of Bahrain yesterday to observe the auspicious occasion of Guru Nanak Ji Gurpurab.

The esteemed presence of Indian Ambassador H.E. Vinod K Jacob added significance to the ceremony, accompanied by distinguished members of the Salmabad Gurudwara Managing Committee, including Gurmail Singh, Gurcharan Singh, Gurbchan Singh, Kulwinder Singh, Daljeet Singh, Jaswinder Singh, and Rajwender Singh.

Guru Nanak Ji Gurpurab, also called Guru Nanak Ji Prakash Utsav, marks the birth of the first Sikh guru, Guru Nanak. As the esteemed founder of Sikhism and one of its most revered figures, Guru Nanak holds a central place in the hearts of the Sikh community.

The celebration of Guru Nanak Ji Gurpurab stands as one of the holiest festivals in Sikhism. The festivities at Salmabad Gurudwara commenced with the soul-stirring recitation of sacred scriptures and melodious kirtan singing. In a display of profound reverence, devotees offered prayers and paid homage to Guru Nanak Ji.

A special Guru Ka langar, symbolising communal unity, was generously served to all attendees. Ambassador Jacob addressed the congregation, extending warm greetings to the Sikh community on the sacred occasion of Guru Nanak Ji Gurpurab.

He lauded the substantial contributions of the Sikh community to the progress of Bahrain, affirming the steadfast commitment of the Indian Embassy in Bahrain to the welfare and prosperity of the Indian community in the Kingdom.
