Bahrain King calls for ‘greener future’ solutions at COP28

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa expressed hope that the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) would yield innovative and equitable solutions to climate change and its far-reaching impacts.

HM the King was speaking as he arrived in Dubai to lead the Kingdom of Bahrain’s delegation at the summit, which opened yesterday with a resounding call to accelerate collective climate action. The event will run until December 12, 2023 with more than 160 world leaders taking part.

His Majesty is participating in the conference at the invitation of the UAE President His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Upon arrival, HM King Hamad was received by the Crown Prince of Dubai, HH Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

In a statement, HM the King expressed sincere appreciation and gratitude to HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for extending an invitation to participate in the COP28 Conference. He commended the UAE’s commendable efforts and preparations to host this significant international conference, which aims to tackle one of the world’s most urgent global challenges concerning human life, progress, livelihood, and the future.

“On this occasion, we would like to express pride in the strength and development of the relations between our countries and their people, which have consolidated over the course of history based on kinship, a shared destiny and mutual interest. We affirm our ongoing commitment to continue building on the successful efforts to develop and enhance cooperation between our two countries,” His Majesty said.

He conveyed sincere appreciation and gratitude to the UAE and its leadership for their tangible contributions in bolstering international endeavours to address global challenges. His Majesty acknowledged their relentless efforts to mitigate the implications of these challenges on humanity and the development process. HM the King extended his best wishes for the UAE’s success in its future endeavours.
