Two Asian nationals have been convicted in Bahrain for electronic fraud and tampering with payment device systems. The case was initiated after a commercial bank reported suspicious transactions using electronic payment devices.
The first accused was identified and manipulated the payment device to carry out a fraudulent operation, transferring BD13,000 to the second accused's account. The Public Prosecution conducted a thorough investigation, interrogating the first accused and presenting substantial evidence against him.
The second accused also participated in the crime by initiating a fictitious purchase, taking advantage of his position as the owner of the commercial store. The Public Prosecution ordered the seizure and examination of the electronic devices used in the crime, referring the first accused to prison and issuing an arrest warrant for the second accused on charges of electronic fraud.
The Third Circuit Minor Criminal Court has now delivered its verdict, confirming the defendants' guilt and imposing the prescribed penalties.
