Bahrain delegation to attend COP28 parliamentary meeting

A Bahrain delegation, led by Shura Council Chairman, His Excellency Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, and Council of Representatives Speaker, H.E. Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, will participate in the international Parliamentary Meeting, set to take place tomorrow at Expo City Dubai.

Co-organised by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPA) and the UAE National Federal Council, the meeting will be held on the sidelines of the 28th Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28).

The Kingdom is participating in the international parliamentary meeting to consolidate the role of its parliamentary diplomacy in highlighting the national and legislative efforts, as well as programmes, projects and initiatives to confront climate change challenges and strengthen environmental security.

The delegation’s participation in the high-level parliamentary meeting confirms the kingdom’s commitment to the international agreements and resolutions related to addressing climate change effects, in a way that enhances the sustainability of the comprehensive development process, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and backed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The event features a meeting of speakers, in addition to plenary sessions, including “Parliamentary Oversight of the Paris Agreement Implementation Post-COP28.
