Riffa and Isa Town are ablaze with vibrant lights as Bahrain gears up to celebrate its 52nd National Day.

The Kingdom is enveloped in a festive atmosphere as people flock to the highways, eager to partake in the holiday season festivities.

On December 15, the eve of National Day, the night sky will be illuminated with a dazzling display of fireworks, serving as a prelude to the numerous festivities and programmes planned for the celebrations.

Visitors are drawn to iconic locations such as the red and white Bahraini flag-inspired illuminations, landmarks, and shopping centers. The allure of these vibrant displays prompts many to capture the moment, with people even taking snapshots from moving vehicles.

It is not uncommon to witness cars adorned with red and white spray paint and stickers of Bahrain’s flag, displaying their patriotic fervour.

National pride

The surge in national pride is evident in the demand for the Bahrain flag, with shops across the Kingdom witnessing a remarkable increase in sales. From small stationary shops to bustling tailor’s establishments, flags of various sizes and prices are prominently displayed.

The smaller flags, measuring a few inches, can be purchased for as little as 500 fills. Medium-sized flags are available at approximately BD1, while larger flags range from BD1.5 to BD. To facilitate the festivities, Bahrain has announced a public holiday in honour of National Day.

Holiday circular

As per the circular, ministries and public institutions will remain closed from December 16 to 18, with December 16 falling on the weekend. This extended break will provide ample opportunity for citizens and residents alike to participate in the celebrations and reflect on the nation’s achievements.

The nation, which commemorates the founding of the modern Bahraini Kingdom as an Arab and Muslim state in 1783 by Ahmed Al Fateh, is also celebrating the anniversary of His Majesty the King’s accession to the throne. The forthcoming December 16 and 17 hold great significance as the country pays homage to its rich history and heritage.
