Amendments on rights of elderly discussed

The Services Committee of the House of Representatives held its 11th meeting in the second regular session of the sixth legislative term. The meeting was headed by Deputy Chairman of the Committee, MP Lulwah Al Rumaihi.
MP Al Rumaihi stated that the committee discussed the draft law amending Article (9) of Law No. (58) of 2009 regarding the rights of the elderly (prepared based on the proposal for a law “as amended” submitted by the House of Representatives) and the committee discussed replies of the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee, the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee, the Ministry of Social Development regarding it and the committee decided to approve it and submitted the final report on it to the office.
The committee also discussed and decided to approve two topics: the proposal for a law amending Article (4) of Law No. (19) of 2006 regarding regulating the labour market, and the proposal with a desire to develop a strategy for promoting media for children, and the committee submitted two reports on them to House of Representatives Bureau.
The committee reviewed four proposals for a law and decided to continue discussing them and to address their sponsors to respond to further inquiries regarding them.
The committee also addressed the concerned authorities to obtain the necessary information regarding them, which are: the proposal for a law regarding the Bahrainisation of some professions in the private sector, the proposal for a law amending some provisions of the Labour Law in the Private Sector promulgated by Law No. (36) of 2012, and the proposal for a law regarding Economic protection for retirees, a proposal to abolish the parallel system of Bahrainization, and a proposal to develop intensive programs to embrace children and adolescents during the summer vacation.
