Bahrain and US committed to strengthening military and defence cooperation

The Kingdom of Bahrain and the US are committed to strenghtening cooperation across all levels, particularly in the military and defence sectors, through the recently signed Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement (C-SIPA) which aims to achieve mutual goals and aspirations.

This was affirmed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Prime Minister, as he received yesterday the Commander of US Naval Forces Central Command, Commander of the United States Fifth Fleet, and Commander of Combined Maritime Forces, Vice Admiral Charles B. Cooper II, at Gudaibiya Palace.

HRH Prince Salman highlighted the depth of the longstanding relations and multisector collaboration between the two countries. He noted the US’s important role, alongside allied countries, in safeguarding security and stability, which further supports regional and global development and sustainability.

During the meeting, regional and global developments, and issues of common interest were also discussed. His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Minister of Finance and National Economy, HE Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, and the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, HE Hamad bin Faisal Al Malki, also attended the meeting.
