In a remarkable turn of events, the rift that unfolded during the previous parliamentary session between the First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Abdulnabi Salman, and the head of the Strategic Thinking Bloc, MP Ahmed Sabah Al Saloom, has come to a peaceful resolution.
This reconciliation took place during yesterday’s session, marking a significant step towards restoring harmony within the Parliament. During the session held on December 5th, tensions escalated, prompting the First Deputy Speaker to request the removal of certain remarks made against MP Al Saloom from the minutes of last week’s session.
The First Deputy Speaker expressed his desire for this moment to serve as the foundation for a renewed and healthy Parliament, emphasising their shared fraternity. Responding to this gesture, MP Al Saloom took the floor and warmly acknowledged MP Salman as a “brother and friend, indispensable to us all”.
He extended his heartfelt gratitude to the Speaker and the First Deputy Speaker for their commitment to reconciliation and unity. The spokesperson for the Strategic Thinking Bloc, MP Khalid Bu Anq, condemned earlier in a statement what he called the repeated disrespectful behaviour of the First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament towards his colleagues during sessions necessitates the implementation of legal measures outlined in the internal regulations of the Parliament.
As the waters of discord recede, replaced by an atmosphere of cooperation and mutual respect, the Parliament can now focus on its essential legislative responsibilities with renewed vigor and a shared commitment to progress.
