Bahrain declares three-day mourning to mark Kuwait Amir's passing

Bahrain announced a three-day official mourning following the passing of His Highness Shaikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, the Amir of the State of Kuwait, as decreed by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

All planned National Day festivities over the next three days are on hold and will recommence starting on the 19th of this month.

The National Days’ fireworks display at Bahrain International Circuit is rescheduled for the upcoming Friday. Additionally, activities at Heritage Village, Festival City, and Muharraq Nights are temporarily closed. During the mourning period, Bahrain will lower its flags to half-mast for three days, starting on Saturday.

In a statement, HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa expressed that Shaikh Nawaf was a “wise leader who devoted his life to serving his people and nation, as well as serving humanity.” The Royal Court, in an official statement, conveyed, “His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa mourns His Highness Shaikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, the Amir of the sisterly State of Kuwait, who passed away following a lifetime full of giving and achievements in serving his people and his Arab and Islamic nation and supporting its causes.”

The statement extended condolences to the Al Sabah Family and the people of Kuwait

Absentee prayers

Following the instructions of His Majesty, the Royal Court has declared the observance of absentee prayers for the late Shaikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah today after the noon prayer in all mosques across Bahrain.
