The festival, which commenced on December 14, will run until December 24, offering a delightful experience for visitors of all ages. Families are encouraged to bring their children, as the festival features engaging workshops and interactive activities such as painting and crafting.
In an interview with The Daily Tribune, His Excellency Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), expressed his hopes of showcasing Muharraq’s unique charm to both the local public and international visitors.
The festival encompasses design, arts, crafts, food, and music, spanning from the vibrant Souq to Al Dana Square and the spaces in between. “We aim to foster an appreciation for Muharraq and enable visitors to immerse themselves in Bahrain’s rich culture and traditions,” Shaikh Khalifa mentioned.
“With the festival spanning ten nights, people will have ample time to plan their visit and partake in the festivities.” “To ensure everyone stays informed about the festival’s activities, the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities has made the event details available through their website and social media platforms,” he added.
According to Shaikh Khalifa, numerous other social media accounts are also actively promoting the Muharraq Night Festival and its diverse range of activities, including children’s workshops, musical performances, and captivating art installations. It is highly recommended to stay updated through these online platforms to catch the latest lineup of events.
The Muharraq Night Festival takes place annually along the Pearling Path, welcoming visitors free of charge. The festival’s convenient timing, from 5pm to 10pm, allows families to attend even on weekdays, ensuring that everyone has an opportunity to experience the cultural extravaganza. The Daily Tribune interviewed several individuals to gather their impressions of the festival. One of the visitors, Ebrahim Mohd, not only attended but also volunteered to oversee arrangements for other visitors.
Pride
He expressed his pride in being Bahraini and showcasing the country’s vibrant culture. “I’ve been here for a few days, and I absolutely love the music and the chance to meet people who come with their friends and families,” he shared.
Simran Bhogal, attending Muharraq Nights for the first time, expressed her delight in the festival. “December is my favourite month because of the abundance of festivals. The food here is incredible, and the atmosphere is bustling with people. Despite the crowds, walking through the streets of Muharraq feels like immersing myself in the local culture and enjoying Bahrain’s traditions.”
Offerings
Evita Ruby, another festival-goer, mentioned that she lives nearby and enjoys exploring the offerings of the festival. “It’s a delightful stroll, especially in this weather, and there are food stalls everywhere.
I even stopped for a hot chocolate drink to warm up. The lighting creates a wonderful ambiance, and it’s a great opportunity to capture memorable pictures,” she shared.
