His Excellency Engineer Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, President of the Electricity and Water Authority, reiterated EWA’s unwavering commitment to the continuous development and expansion of electricity transmission networks in Bahrain.
This strategic objective aims to meet the rising demand for electricity and water services and ensure their provision at the highest standards of quality. Central to this ongoing effort is the ambitious Jassrah Power Transmission Station project, which will significantly enhance Bahrain’s energy infrastructure.
The project entails the construction of a cutting-edge 400-kilo-volt power transmission station in the Jassrah area. This station will be connected to the main network through the installation of three 400-kilovolt underground cables spanning 130 kilometers.
Additionally, a new 220-kilovolt sub-transmission system extending 100 kilometers will be established.
Electrical interconnection
Eng. Kamal expressed the project’s key objectives, stating, “The Jassrah Power Transmission Station project aims to strengthen the electrical interconnection between Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
It will facilitate energy trade operations and enhance the reliability of electricity transmission networks within the Kingdom. By upgrading the existing 220-kilovolt interconnection at the Jassrah station to a more robust 400-kilovolt system, the project will improve the efficiency and capacity of electricity transmission.”
Eng. Kamal added, “The Jassrah Power Transmission Station project will maximise the utilisation of electricity generated from Phase 2 of the Al Dur Power and Water Plant. By enhancing the transmission capacity to major load centers, it will optimise the efficiency of the electricity network. This improvement will enable seamless electricity distribution and support ongoing development HE Eng. Kamal projects in the region.”
