Glittering guitar: Gem of the event

The Coronet Gibson guitar, the world’s most valuable guitar, was the centre of attraction at Jewellery Arabia 2015 yesterday.

Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa also had a glimpse of the guitar, which has been made with 11,441 diamonds (401.15 carats) set in 1.6kg of 18k white gold.

Even the visitors rushed towards the showcase of the guitar and went back with some selfies with the US$2 million worth musical instrument.

The guitar’s unveiling at Jewellery Arabia 2015 follows its appearances in Hong Kong, Switzerland and the US.

According to the manufacturers, it took almost 700 mandays for a team of 68 artists to make this glittering guitar. The guitar, manufactured by guitar maker Gibson Brands, Hong Kong- based founder of the Coronet brand Aaron Shum Jewellery, and musician cum artist Mark Lui, has been named ‘Eden of Coronet’.

It was certified as the most valuable guitar ever by Guinness World Records in March 2015.
