Bahrain plants 749,000 Mangrove seedlings, surpassing annual target by 163%

In an extraordinary green spectacle, Bahrain planted an astounding 749,000 mangrove seedlings by the end of November this year, boasting a remarkable 163% surge beyond the annual target of 460,000.
The details emerged as HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, held a meeting with His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Wael bin Nasser Al-Mubarak, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, at Gudaibiya Palace.
This noteworthy achievement was realised through the Kingdom’s decision to double its annual target for mangrove tree planting to 460 thousand mangrove seedlings in the second phase.
Presenting these statistics, minister Al-Mubarak and HRH Prince Salman reviewed the developments of the year 2023 in expanding afforestation initiatives. Expressing immense pride, His Royal Highness commended the unwavering dedication of national cadres involved in the afforestation and mangrove planting plan.
He acknowledged that their passion for excellence played a pivotal role in surpassing the goals for the year 2023 ahead of schedule. Highlighting Bahrain’s commitment to addressing climate change challenges, His Highness emphasized the nation’s dedication to initiatives supporting environmental sustainability.
This commitment is in line with the broader goals of the comprehensive development process under the esteemed leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Isa bin Salman Educational Charitable Trust, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), also attended the meeting.
