Standing tall amidst a chorus of diverse voices, Bahraini singer Mahmood AlHaiki wasn’t just representing his country at the Side by Side Festival in Armenia; he was redefining artistic expression, one powerful note at a time.

Despite the physical challenges that life has thrown his way, Mahmood’s passion for music burns bright. Financial hurdles too threatened his participation in Armenia, but Hilton Garden Inn and the National Institute for Disabled in Bahrain stepped in, proving that music truly knows no bounds.

Transcending limitations, Mahmood’s voice became a beacon of hope and inspiration, not just for fellow artists with disabilities, but for anyone who dares to dream.  “This song, it’s speaking to everyone,” Mahmood says, his words resonating with quiet strength. “Don’t despair. You have a role in this life, even if you miss something. God gave you a voice, use it to sing, to share your message.” And share he does.

Mahmood’s music isn’t just entertainment; it’s a testament to the human spirit’s ability to overcome. His song from last year, ‘Don’t Despair’, was a deeply personal anthem, a chronicle of his own journey. This year, his voice soared across borders, carrying a message of universal resilience. But his impact wasn’t limited to the stage. Meeting other artists with disabilities at the festival ignited a passion for inclusivity within him.

“We need this in Bahrain,” he declares, his voice filled with conviction. “Imagine professional singers sharing the stage with those who have the talent but need a little guidance. That respect, that encouragement, it can change lives.” And change is exactly what Mahmood wants to see. His message to aspiring Bahraini artists with disabilities is one of unwavering belief: “There are no limits to your talent or your dreams. Believe in yourself, work hard, and share your voice. The world is waiting to listen.”

His own future is brimming with possibilities. The Side by Side Festival wasn’t just a platform; it was a springboard. Mahmood is already preparing a new song for next year’s event, his heart set on spreading his message of inclusivity even further. As the final notes of his story fade, one thing becomes abundantly clear: Mahmood AlHaiki is more than just a singer; he’s a symbol of hope, a testament to the power of music to bridge divides and empower us all to sing our own unique song.
